So the plan is currently to upgrade the application servers to Windows Server 2016 in the relatively near future, although as a first step primarily to leverage some pretty interesting networking and stack isolation features in that release. Whether or not that will happen using Docker containers hasn't been decided yet, but there's a very good chance that the implementation will support docker files for defining how application packages, dependencies etc.

Do you have any particular use cases you're currently missing support for though? Would be great to hear more about how and what you'd use it for this can be factored in!

The idea was to have something similar to Azure/AWS Docker support.

To improve compatibility in our develop machines as stage and production servers we now work 100% with Docker images and we simply commit containers with a copy of our code.

Since AWS has native support for such platform, I was wondering if we could expect the same support from AppHarbor :)

balexandretag:support.appharbor.com,2010-11-23:Comment/421829902017-04-03T18:56:11Z2017-04-03T18:56:11ZDocker support

Hejsa Bruno,

Apologies for the slow response - I can't tell you exactly when we'll have support for Docker containers at least on shared infrastructure, as that depends on thorough vetting, particularly with regards to stability and security in such an environment. It's more likely to be introduced on instances dedicated to a single account first. We currently have this feature (dedicated account regions) in private beta in case you're interested in that? It essentially works similar to our public regions, but applications can be deployed to a single region, isolated in a dedicated VPC, for a monthly fee on top of the existing costs.
