Datacenters
Hello again. I took your advice (please see https://support.appharbor.com/discussions/problems/85074-backup-database) and we are trying to switch to a dedicated Amazon database. My only concern now, is regarding the datacenters. I was wondering if you have any idea how will this affect the performance? I know that this can add a lot of latency. I think that our application (hosted with Appharbor) is located in Europe (based on the flag photo) and I saw that Amazon has a datacenter in EU (Irreland). What do you think? Thanks so much.

Hi,
Yep choosing the closest datacenter can definitely make a big difference -- AppHarbor EU region is also located in AWS's Ireland data center, so as long as you create it in that datacenter you shouldn't experience any unnecessary latency.
