Hi,
Firstly, love the site and you have all done an excellent job, well done.
I am using SQLCE 4.0 to demonstrate a web site, would it be possible to install the provider on your servers?
Here is my site http://locationviewer.apphb.com/.
Thanks,
Nick

Relying on the instance filesystem is a bad idea because changes are not persisted across deploys nor between instances (if your app runs on multiple instances). We have a sample that demonstrates using CE for unit tests. You should be able to adapt that to your website, without requiring us to install the actual provider.
Let us know if you hit any snags, and please post a blog post or similar if you get it working.

Michael,
Thanks for the quick response. The issue is I am using Entity Framework 4.1 and it requires funky connections strings.
e.g.
Is there any other way around you could think off?
Also, for some reason your link did not work in Chrome since it was receiving a certificate revocation request. It did work in IE, very strange.
Thanks again,

looks like your feedback site takes out tags (sorry, should have pressed preview) here it is with out html tags:
add name="LocationsEntities" connectionString="metadata=res:///Models.LocationModel.csdl|res:///Models.LocationModel.ssdl|res://*/Models.LocationModel.msl;provider=System.Data.SqlServerCe.4.0;provider connection string="Data Source=|DataDirectory|\Locations.sdf"" providerName="System.Data.EntityClient"

For entity framework, you cannot currently rely on the connectionstrings AppHarbor inserts. You can either hard-code them in your web.config, or (better) use web.config tranfsformations.

And remember that, per default, only the
App_Datafolder is writeable by your app, so you should store database files there.friism closed this discussion on 23 May, 2011 04:18 PM.
