I was trying to use SQL Management Studio 2008 and I right clicked on the AppHarbor database and chose the Tasks -> Restore -> Database -> "From Device" but it does not work.
I get the following error message
An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'.
RESTORE HEADERONLY is terminating abnormally. (Microsoft SQL
Server, Error: 262)

You can't restore a local backup file to a remote database. We've written a console app that lets you move data very quickly.

After I made the post I saw your earlier post about the exe. Downloaded it and compiled/used it. It worked for a few tables and then ran into an exception (I think it was related to some constraint), and stopped the copy. When I reran it, it complained about the data that had already been inserted (basically primary key violation). I guess those are things that could probably be easily fixed in the script but I thought I would let you know.
In the end I used Red Gate's SQL Compare and that worked fine, though I feel that it was pretty slow to do the compare and sync. Is there any kind of throttling that AppHarbor does for database requests (apologies if this has been documented elsewhere already).
Thanks
Jaspreet

I'll take a look at updating the tool, maybe with an option to delete any existing data. Thanks for reporting!
