NEWBIE!
Hi Guys,
I'm completely new to this.. I'm looking at running up a
nopCommerce implementation in a cloud based environment. The shared
hosting we have at the moment just isn't cutting it.
Im currently using tortise svn so im assuming i'd make the switch to git.. with regards to hosting costs and db costs I was wondering the pricing for the hosting of a an asp.net 4.0 app with an sql server 2008 r2 db.. we don't get a heap of traffic but just need a more dedicated solution..
also how would I throw more weight at the app should it need
it?

Pricing depends on how many instances you need. It's hard for me to give you an idea of costs without knowing more about your traffic-volume. If you have moderate traffic, you should be fine with a few instances, or even with a single, free instance.
Database costs depends on size. Less than 20MB is free, up to 10GB on shared DB is $10 per month, anything larger, drop us a line and we'll figure out setting up a dedicated server for you.
You can add hostnames in your applications and point DNS records at our load balancer IPs (which you get in the hostname interface).

Thanks for letting me know. With regards to instances.. how do you allocate more than one instance to the application? Is that done post check in & build?

We're currently not exposing adding extra instances in the interface, although the functionality is implemented. Let us know if you push your app and find performance lacking -- we'll look at adding multiple instances for your app behind the scenes.
Note that if your app stores per-server state (such as cached sessions), it may not work correctly in a multi-instance configuration.
