SQL Server Data-Tier Applications (DAC)
Is there a plan to support Data-Tier Applications? We currently use them as a core part of our build/deploy process and would love to see some integration with DAC projects. The only option we have right now seems to be to generate the script and run it manually.
There are probably two levels of support possible. The first would be to grant DAC permission on our SQL Server databases. I already attempted to do so but got an error about not having the 'dbcreator' role. The second would be to actually run and deploy the DAC project in the Solution when the code is pushed to an application.
Perhaps it isn't possible to support DAC on a shared database. I think I read that dedicated SQL Server instances are available too. Are DACs supported on those?

Hi
As far as I can determine, DAC is only available on SQL Server Enterprise. We might be able to offer this version on a dedicated instance, but prices would likely start around $800/month and we'd have to figure out licensing.
Let us know if this is something you'd like to pursue.

Hmm. I'll need to bring this up internally. But, I think this is a no go for us then. It will be hard to justify $800/mo for a database we get for $10 on SQL Azure which includes DAC.

That makes sense. Note that you can consume SQL Azure from your AppHarbor hosted application if you want to take advantage of our superior deployment and scaling features while still using SQL Azure.
