However,
when I had the settings wrong, I did get the same error.</p>
<p>Attached is what it looks like when connecting to the server.
You get the sql name, id and password from your AppHarbor add-ons
page.</p>
<p>Hope that helps!</p></div>glittletag:support.appharbor.com,2010-11-23:Comment/103654022011-10-03T04:16:17Z2011-10-03T04:16:17Zcant connect to SQL Server from management studio<div><p>That is exactly what i put in in SQL management studio. What
settings did you have wrong, im not sure what you mean by that.</p></div>mk352tag:support.appharbor.com,2010-11-23:Comment/103654022011-10-03T04:27:34Z2011-10-03T04:27:34Zcant connect to SQL Server from management studio<div><p>My error happened when I had the wrong URI for the server. The
wording was almost identical, but at the end, mine says "Error:
53".</p>
<p>Yours says "Error: 40", so it is something else. A quick google
of "sql visual studio error 40" shows lots of discussion about the
issue. You may want to review those.</p>
<p>All I can say is that the AppHarbor/Sequelizer sql server seems
to be running fine!</p></div>glittletag:support.appharbor.com,2010-11-23:Comment/103654022011-10-03T07:56:05Z2011-10-03T07:56:05Zcant connect to SQL Server from management studio<div><p>Hello, could you please post the name of the database (i.e. from
the connectionstring "Database=name")?</p>

able to connect from my job and i have followed steps to try to
resolve error 40 but nothing i do seems to work. I;ve have a port
open in my firewall, my SQL Browser is running, and TCP is enabled
on my instance. Any other suggestions?</p></div>mk352tag:support.appharbor.com,2010-11-23:Comment/103654022011-10-04T06:26:51Z2011-10-04T06:26:51Zcant connect to SQL Server from management studio<div><p>If you can connect from some networks, but not others, it's
almost certainly not an AppHarbor issue. I'll leave this issue open
in case others have suggestions.</p>

to setup the<br>
network configuration for my SQL Server to connect?</p></div>mk352tag:support.appharbor.com,2010-11-23:Comment/103654022011-10-04T13:14:18Z2011-10-04T13:14:18Zcant connect to SQL Server from management studio<div><p>I'm assuming that when you say you can connect from your job,
that you can succesfully connect to your AppHarbor-hosted SQL
Server database from your job? If that is the case, the AppHarbor
SQL Server instance is running correctly and the problem is with
whatever internet connection you are trying to connect from somehow
blocking you. I'm afraid we can't assist you there, but I'll leave
this issue open in case others have suggestions.</p>

guardian running and not only does it block inbound connections but
also outbound connections. i can now connect to the database fine.
thanks for the help</p></div>mk352tag:support.appharbor.com,2010-11-23:Comment/103654022011-10-06T06:13:23Z2011-10-06T06:13:23Zcant connect to SQL Server from management studio<div><p>Great, good to hear.</p>
