Interestingly I also use AWS and am
using it to process messages from SQS. While trying to figure out
what is going wrong I have added code to my background job to send
me an email via SendGrid (an email add-on) upon startup but that
isnt working either.

I have contacted support and will let you know what I find
out.

would be nice to be able to log errors and view what is going on.
Maybe some of the appharbor guys could take a look and see if our
apps are throwing errors on deployment or let us know if there are
other issues.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

stephen776tag:support.appharbor.com,2010-11-23:Comment/146060132012-03-20T17:47:42Z2012-03-20T17:47:42ZBackground workers do not seem to be running

I'll try and get a fix for the XmlSerializaer temp-folder

give it a try. I really appreciate the help and fast responses from

I may need to come up with an interim solution in the mean time
until the AWS SDK is supported inside background workers.

stephen776tag:support.appharbor.com,2010-11-23:Comment/146060132012-03-21T12:42:06Z2012-03-21T12:42:06ZBackground workers do not seem to be running

We just deployed an updated version of our background worker
host that will set the "TMP" and "TEMP" environment variables to a
writable path. If this path isn't picked up by the serializer, you
could extract the value by using

System.Environment.GetEnvironmentVariable("TEMP")
and
assign it manually. Let us know how this works out.

tttag:support.appharbor.com,2010-11-23:Comment/146060132012-03-21T13:18:47Z2012-03-21T13:18:47ZBackground workers do not seem to be running

Does not seem to be working. Can you advise on what/where to set

Seems to be working now.

My messages are being processed from my queue. I may have other
problems though related to my implementation. Should I be able to
configure log4net and logentries inside a background app? This
would help with debugging.

stephen776tag:support.appharbor.com,2010-11-23:Comment/146060132012-03-21T17:07:22Z2012-03-21T17:07:22ZBackground workers do not seem to be running

Both regular and add-on provided configuration variables are
injected, so installing Logentries and using log4net would be a
great solution. We plan to provide a simple logging tool at some
point (most likely we'll show whatever is written to the console),
but right now you'll have to implement it yourself.

tttag:support.appharbor.com,2010-11-23:Comment/146060132012-03-22T21:28:13Z2012-03-22T21:28:13ZBackground workers do not seem to be running

I still seem to be having problems getting mailgun to work
inside my console app.

Everything works fine when ran locally using the smtp client to
send. But on deployment, my emails are not going out.

Are there any known issues when using mailgun?

stephen776tag:support.appharbor.com,2010-11-23:Comment/146060132012-03-24T04:37:06Z2012-03-28T15:09:05ZBackground workers do not seem to be running

I cant get SendGrid working either. All runs fine locally.
Can you please send me any error messages generated by my
application?
Thanks
running? I am still not having luck with mailgun and calls to the

but until that is done I would catch exception and send them via
SendGrid. I have made a small sample application here with a
working SendGrid setup.

workers in Errors list.

Note, that this will fist have effect after next deployment of
your application.

cb
